Brian Cox: What went wrong (and what’s next) at the Large Hadron Collider
Mon May 11 2009
Post a commentNote that this talk was filmed in Feb 2009, and the speaker is perhaps a tad optimistic in his schedule of events to come. As of last news, so far as I can tell, the final magnet went underground in late April, and the probable next start-up date will be September 2009 at the earliest. This, combined with the recent news that Austria intends to pull out of CERN, certainly puts a bit of a dent on some hopes of those of us following the LHC projects.
But then again, as the speaker touches on, science has never been immune from setbacks.
Got an opinion? Some insight? Think we couldn't be more wrong?
